You are invited to share your idea for an event that could take place at
Galleon Arts Centre on Boundary Road IG11 7JR
on Sat 30 and/or Sun 31 May 2026
We are looking for ideas for events that bring people together, celebrate culture, nurture creativity or share skills. Events will explore how Galleon Arts Centre can be used by different communities.
You don’t need to write a long proposal you just need to send
up to 300 words or up to 2 minutes of audio or video

You need to submit your idea no later than 6pm on Thursday 26 March.

Every submitted idea will be reviewed by the Imagine Galleon Together Citizens’ Panel. This citizens’ panel was selected by lottery and is made up of a broad cross-section of people from across Barking and Dagenham. The Citizens’ Panel is helping to shape the future of Galleon Arts Centre.
If the panel shortlists your idea you will then receive a £200 development fee. This is so you can spend a few hours developing your idea into something more worked up. You will then share your worked up idea with the Citizens’ Panel at Galleon Arts Centre on Saturday 25 April.
The Citizens’ Panel will then make the final decisions about which events ideas are selected for the weekend at Galleon Arts Centre in May. Selected ideas will be offered between £500 and £3,000 so that the people or organisations behind them can make them happen with support from Creative Barking and Dagenham.

Worked up ideas would be presented to panel on: Sat 25 April
Successful applicants would be notified on: Mon 27 Apr
Events would be produced on: Sat 30 and/or Sun 31 May
